I presume Danes know that skjald means a poet (in Danish).
There is a myth saying the viking poets painted their poems
on their shields. Therefore "a waster of shields" is, depending
on your point of view, a waster of poetry.

A "skjald-jötunn" was a kind of war-machine, or gun, that the
vikings used to repel attackers. Under skjöldr in C-V you
will see what I mean. It could be what you are looking for.
