Adalbol, I guess he means to (?) (yes, literally ‘will’) retain his authority over you 

 

This is contracted form of ‘munu vera heim kominn’ – will have come home.

I guess you may intend to ride home and settle in your own farm  (?) as best you may

Sam replies " I shall travel (=returm)  in the same way as I came from the East

Sam was best pleased with this   

 

 (Gordon glosses with glad, but I like - for this - a local expression

"best pleased" for it sounds Sam is a trifle smug as well he might be)

 

 

Mind I've been thinking all along that this will end in tears, you cannot keep a good guy down

even less can you swat a bad guy like Hrafmkell

I may not have done that well but thank's Alan for this has become enjoyable
