Hej,

Matt Townend has some other publications on the topic appart from the book.
Here are some

'Norse Poets and English Kings: Skaldic Performance in Anglo-Saxon England', Offa 58 (2001), 269-75

'Pre-Cnut Praise-Poetry in Viking Age England', The Review of English Studies, New Series 51 (2000), 349-70

'Viking Age England as a Bilingual Society', in Dawn M. Hadley and Julian D. Richards (eds), Cultures in Contact: Scandinavian Settlement in England in the Ninth and Tenth Centuries, Studies in the Early Middle Ages 2 (Brepols, 2000), 89-105

All of them are relevant to your area of interest, but if you have to choose only one I'd recommend the last one
Cheers

Subject: [norse_course] anglo saxon traces in old norse

hi, i am wondering if anyone can give some advices.
i am planning to do some study on language contact between users of
anglo saxon and of  old norse.

1. Is there any good article or book as for introduction to be recommended?
(Currently i have only got otto jespersen and matthew townend on hand, which i found quite helpful.)

2. Among old norse source, is any source commonly regarded good material for picking up anglo saxon elements?
(i assume i should avoid skaldic poems as my purpose or focus will be on language instead of literature analysis)

thanks for any suggestions. and i would like to say you guys are all very excellent in this.
