Only one little thing... in this context "síðan suðr" means further south (which makes more sense ´cos there´s a conflict of meaning with "now afterwards")
 
Yes, til Danmerkr is in the genitive.  The nominative is Danmørk (that should be "o" with a little squiggle underneath) which is a feminine strong noun which has a vowel change.  Gordon helpfully tells us that (Dan)mørk was declined like tønn (tooth), except that the genitive singular was (Dan)merkr, formed in the same way as the gen "kýr".  Hope this helps :-)
