Hi Dirk,
You´ve done a good job with or without a dictionary
:-) If it´s ok with you, I´ll give it a couple of days before I make
any comments just to give others a chance to get their translations posted as
well.
I don´t know what Old Norse resources you have, but
A New Introduction to Old Norse part 1 Grammar by Michael Barnes is helpful ISBN
0 903521. Alternatively, for the brave-hearted, Gordon´s An Introduction
to Old Norse is good ISBN 0-19-811184-3 - but both of these pre-supposes English
is your first language, or that you don't mind learning from English.
There is also a paperback edition of Zoega's dictionary out ISBN
0-8020-8659-4.
Good to have you on board!
Cheers,
Sarah.

Sarah,
I am going to give it a try. Don't laugh
because I am doing this off
the top of my head without a
dictionary.

I guess this would
be phase one which took 3 minutes. I would then
have to get a dictionary
to look up the other words and then make a
more fluid translation while
trying to be as true or literal as I
could to the original text.
