Hi Jeffery,

I'm just as new as you are, but maybe I can help you. My teacher
wanted me to get Gordon's "Introduction to Old Norse" ($35 from
Oxford Press) but it's not beginner-friendly. There are lots of
readings and a small glossary but it's definitely not intended for
beginnersd. On the webpage posted on the main page of this group is a
gruop of lessons for beginners. They start with grammar and
vocabulary and take you through it step by step. It's extremely
helpful.

Sarah recommends these:
A New Introduction to Old Norse: Grammar, ISBN: 0903521458
A New Introduction to Old Norse: Reader, ISBN: 0903521563
A New Introduction to Old Norse, Glossary, ISBN: 0903521571

I found them relatively inexpensive on amazon.co.uk and the Viking
Society webpage, but I live in the US and I'm scared of the shipping
charges. I don't know of any tapes, but I know at the webpage for the
lessons they have audio files to help with pronunciation.

Good luck!

Ryan
