Tinnu Ólafsdóttur fæaddist barn í gær ...
we haven´t got onto the middle voice at college in any depth yet, but at
first sight it reminds me of the sort of language you find in the gospels -
unto Mary a child was born
Would you treat the middle voice more as a passive construction here?
Kveðja,
Sarah.

Subject: [norse_course] A sentence
I saw a headline in a newspaper a couple of days ago that read:
"Tinnu Ólafsdóttur fæddist barn í gær."
I think that's a rather good example of two features of
Icelandic grammar, the dative and the middle voice.
Any takers? :)
