This type of name is fairly common, though by no means
dominating, in the Faroes. Many have Danish surnames
(Jacobsen) others have more Faroese ones (Sólstein),
many of those derived from places (Streymoy) and some
of them with prepositions (eystan Á). Patronyms are in
some use (Pætursdóttir) but family names are more common
by far.
