Just to run with what Baddi was saying about "fornmál eða miðmál", how do Icelanders divide up the main periods in Icelandic history and in the development of the Icelandic language?
Thanks to Baddi, we now know about fornmál and miðmál; what do Icelanders call the modern language, however? As for historical periods, in British history, for example, you have ancient times, Roman times, the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Modern age etc. I was just wondering what Icelanders called the main periods in their history.
