Heil Cathy and Haukur!!

Thanks for your advice, Cathy - you were right, I did need to update my
RealAudio.

The recordings are very helpful, they bring the language to life as it were.
I have analysed all the parts of speech and suddenly all the pieces of the
jigsaw puzzle fell into place and I understood the passage! (Although at
first I nearly had Audun the Wealthy marrying Thorstein the Red's
daughter!!!)

Looking forward to the next instalment!
Thanks again,

Sarah.

Haukur,

Your recordings were compatible with the Real Audio on my computer. Sarah
may just need to download/update her Real Audio. If that doesn't help, I
wouldn't mind burning her a cd of your lessons after several have been
posted online.

Let me also comment on your recordings, too. They were a tremendous help
to me, not only with pronunciations but with the meter of the spoken
language. Being an American, I don't have the availability to hear
Icelandic spoken very often. English is my first language and Arabic is my
second language, Arabic is a language that is read phonetically so I've
learned to be meticulous in reading all the inflections in the written
script. Unfortunately, I've been a bit lost trying to pronounce some of
the letters of your written alphabet. Listening to your recordings while
reading the written lesson, I found that even though I was very far off on
certain words and letters, I was correct on many others. The worst
drawback is my Texas accent, Icelandic just doesn't seem to come out as
nicely as your recordings. I'm eagerly waiting for next week's
lesson. These recording lessons were a great idea, thank you so much for
you time and effort in not only helping others learn the Old Norse, but for
keeping Old Norse from being lost.
