Subject: Anglo-Norse Evidence from E.V. Gordon - Part 1

Thankyou for posting this.  It is a topic I am very interested in, for reasons that would probably consign me to the loony bin, but nevermind.  I believe that I was Earl Beorn (d. 1049) in a past life.  I won't go into the dream and subsequent research that led to this.  Let's just say I want to learn as much about "his" language as possible.  I have Gordon's book.  And I have previously studied Anglo-Saxon.  He would have spent his childhood in Denmark.  Would the Danish rulers have "learned" Anglo-Saxon since they were so close linguistically, or would they have continued to speak Danish?  And would they also have known Norman French?  His mother, I believe, was married to a Norman at one point, although my guess is he would have been fostered out as was the custom.  Would he have gone to his mother's people in Denmark, or his father's people in "England"?  His paternal uncle was King Canute.  Were the differences between "Danish" and "Norwegian" all that significant in the first half of the 11th century?  Any further links or comments would be greatly appreciated.
