Hi everyone!

I'm translating a number of related passages, so I'll probably have a
few of these sorts of passages that I'll need some help with. I'm having
some trouble with this one in particular (from Landnámabók). I've got
the words, but I'm not sure of the sense. Can anyone help?

“Þórólfr smjör, er fyrr var getit, var son Þorsteins skrofa Grímssonar,
þess er blótinn var dauðr fyrir þokkasæld ok kallaðr kambann."

The best sense I can get from it is “Þórólfr Butter, who was mentioned
before, was the son of Þorsteinn Pelican, son of Grím, (he) who was
sacrificing to the dead because of (its?) popularity and was called
‘Kambann’.", but it still sounds awkward...

Thanks.
