I think the idiom "ganga á mis" carries much of the informal attitude this
phrase has in modern culture - it basically means "mis-step," if I
understand it correctly.

but of course, I'm probably way off when it comes to idiomatic use of
Icelandic, and I wouldn't trust my word on this one... ;->
