Goswami Tulasidas (16'th Century) is one of the greatest
saints of medieval period of India, His "Hanuman Chalisa" is
one of the most belived, most popular poetic work written in
the praise of Sri Hanuman Ji, In the Hanuman Chalisa, In the
hanuman chalisa, Sri Tulasidas strikingly revealed preserved
knolwedge of Vedic Astronomy that normaly doesnt attract
devotees and critiques attention.

In the the 18'th chaupai of chalisa, Sri Tulasidas Ji
mentioned distance from Earth to Sun in vedic age unit for
measuring distance the "Yojana", He says that Sun is located
from earth at 1000 Yuga Yojanas.

! युग  सहस्र योजन पर भानू  ।

All three words are quite easy to understand the distance :

  ( योजन ) Yojana : An Yojana is approximately 8 Miles or
approximately 12.5 KMs, Yoajana is used to measure
distance since the time of Rigveda.

  ( सहस्र )  Sahastra : Sahastra is 1000

  ( युग  ) :  Yuga : Yuga is a numerical unit of 12000, For
the Yugas of the Gods, this number remains intact keeping
multiplication factor as 01 while for the Yugas of the
Manushya, this number needs to be multiplied by 360 i.e,
   the multiplication factor is 360.

As guided by Tulasidas, if we multiply all of the numbers to
convert the distance into kilometers, the value comes to

12.5* 1000 * 12000 = 150,000,000.00 KMS or in other words,
it's 150 Million KMS, that's the mean value that NASA also
arrives at, the below link takes you to NASA page.

It's known that Goswami Tulasidas was not an astronomer,
understandably, he mentioned astronimical value that he must
have known through the vedic tradition, and the astronomical
value mentioned by Tulasidas is not the singular or by
chnance quotation, a few centuries ago, another commentator
of Vedas "Bhatta Bhaskar" also mentioend speed of light in
terms of Nimeha (2202 Yojana in one Nimesha).

It's important to mention the Geographical account of Sril
Lanka as given in the Ramayana, The Trikoot mountain that's
mentioned to have located in the northern part of Sri Lanka,
is found today in it's southern part, that shows changes
have come in the geography over the thousands of years, The
archaeologists should undertake further researches to locate
how far Sri Lanka was from the land of India in days of Rama
and Ravana.

Ravana's central palace-complex (main citadel) was a massive
collection of several edifices that reached over one yojana
(8 miles or 12.88 kilometres) in height, one yojana in
length, and half a yojana in breadth. The island had a large
mountain range known as the Trikuta Mountain, atop which was
situated Ravana's capital of Lanka, at the center of which
in turn stood his citadel. The city itself is described as
being 100 Yojanas (800 miles or 1288 kilometres) long and 30
Yojanas (240 miles or 386.4 kilometres) in breadth
