very interesting and the Messapi as "middle/between waters" as
explanation seems sustainable to me. As of Latin geminus, you make
me think now at the Romanian "juma/jumate/jumatate" which means
"half". About the twins it is used to say "they are looking like the
half of each other" meaning you can mistake them as easy as mistaking
to halfs of something. If they should be cognate, then there is a
need for an *geum or *g^um in order to get the Romanian and Albanian
reflexes..
Semanticaly and phoneticaly it seems it fits, it remains to see more
arguments about, if any...
