This is a typical example of a *Wanderwort* related to metallurgy. The Armenian word is in all probability an Urartean borrowing related to Hurrian tabrenni 'smith'. IMHO the origin is a phonosymbolic root *tap- ~ *dab- describing the hitting of metal.
