that is funny and I never tought about since in whole Balkan there is a
denomination for Schäfer and this is "cioban" which should be pronounced
as "tschöban" in German.. Aktually, some people - I guess our Piotr too
-- keep this word for a turkish loan.
Seeing the form -sch- versus -tsch(c^) and "ö" (aka -oe)versus (ä/aka
ae) that appears to be a very appropiate form having the same meaning
ciob(an)/schäf(er); funny, the "b" there could have been an "p" long
time before, so long that this "p" gave an "f" in German...
or maybse simply false friends but really .. the form is intriguing..
