****GK: I think this was touched upon before. My own position is that the early Bastarnae were the Galatae+Sciri mentioned in the Protogen Decree. An alliance of Celts and Germanics (basically, with other associates). Earlier writers viewed the Celtic component as dominant. This was still apparently the case for the time period of the Livy quote above (first half of the 2nd c. BCE). As time went on it is the Germanic component which won out.****
