Most historians have not bothered to read Sanskrit works. Panini mentions rajputs as a separate entity and Mahabharata mentions them as foremost Kshatriyas. Literally hundreds of inscriptions of rajputras have been unearthed before the first mention of the word hunas!
So it is indeed baffling why most historians are still trying to find a foreign connection of the origin of rajputs. Perhaps just a remnant of Aryan Invasion theory!
