Tiis particular <ia> reflects the PSl. nasal vowel *eN, as in *sveNtU
'holy, sacred; strong' (not *e^, as in *sve^tU 'light'). The original
form of the name was *sveNto-pUlkU '(having a) strong cohort' (or the like).
