The word is common Anatolian (there are cognates in Luwian). It has also
been connected with Germanic *arma- < *h1or-mo- 'poor, wretched' and a
group of Anatolian terms for 'sick, ill' (Hitt irman-) etc. < *h1er-mn.,
perhaps via 'pale, weak(er than the Sun)'.
