Is it possible that Portuguese <empurrar> "to push" is a borrowing of
Spanish <empujar> "to push"? I think that in either Brazilian or
Portugal Portuguese, or perhaps in both, <rr> is pronounced /x/, so
<empurrar> would sound almost the same as Spanish <empujar>. But if
that is true only of Brazilian Portuguese, then there must be some
other origin of <empurrar>.
