I like Herman Seldeslacht's etymological proposal: *xanso: < *kóN-(s)sa:
< *kóm-dH(h1)tah2, the collective of a participial derivative of *kom- +
*dHeh1- 'put together, gather'. It makes sense and explains the accent.
