No question about it: 'white' is *Ha(:)l-; *He(:)l-, on the other hand, is
'orange-red'.

*Ha(:)l-bh- probably refers not primarily to the color but to a non-human
creature (-*bh-).

A likely candidate for the honor is the 'dace'.
