<David, the Goliath-slayer, responds:>

Excuse me; have we met somewhere outside this list? I don't
think you know anything at all about what I eat, or have any
basis to believe that you do. I'm a vegetarian and eat very
little that I haven't prepared myself at home, including home-
made kefir and yoghurt, greens, eggs, nuts, etc.

<Patrick observes:>

Arnaud, with David it is all about David. Generalizations, acceptable to
most of the educated world, are forbidden with him.

<David pontificates:>

In fact, here in America, it's generally considered impolite
to bring up another's ethnicity and what we suppose that it
entails about him, unless he has invited us to do so himself.
Please don't assume that you're welcome to include any other
American in the sort of dysfunctional exchange that you have
with Patrick.

<Patrick sums up:>

People who are _not_ ashamed of their ethnic backgrounds have no trouble
discussing them in America.

And enquiring about those of others.

Arnaud, you are absolutely correctly in asserting that statistically
Americans eat an enormous amount of junk-food; and that our educational
system is failing because of untalented meddlers like David.

It is a reasonable presumption that any random American whom one meets will
belong in the statistical majority in any category. One will be right more
than he is wrong.

Patrick
