Yes, and that word was the reflex of PIE *(h1)ek^wo- > PCelt. *ekWo-,
as seen in Gaul. epo- and OIr. ech (masc. o-st.) 'horse'.
And then of course there are the various words for 'mare', 'gelding'
etc.

Most likely when the Irish learned to say /p/...
