Here's Wikipedia has to say about the Clan Chattan.
Note that there was a Gaulish tribe named Catti
The popular spiel, not mentioned below is that they
had a cat totem and indeed, the cat appears in their
mottos and heraldry
And yes, I am proud to have an insignificant amount of
Clan Chattan blood

Chattan Confederation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clan Chattan or the Chattan Confederation is a
confederation of a number of Scottish clans who joined
for mutual defence or blood bonds and is closely
linked with Clan Mackintosh.

The origin of the name Chattan is disputed. There are
three main theories
The name derives from the Catti, a tribe of Gauls,
driven out by the advancing Romans.
The name is taken from Cait, an ancient name for the
present counties of Caithness and Sutherland.
The clan derives its name from Gillchattan Mor,
baillie of Ardchattan, follower of St Cattan. This is
the most widely accepted theory.
