There is no devoicing. There is no *ghHes-, 'grey'.
There is no *k^es-, 'grey'.
*k^as-, 'ash-gray', is a rare compound of *k^A + *Há(:)s-, 'burn'.

Reduplicated in Egyptian <kk>, 'dark'.
