In the mean time what do you think about
- Finnish nuori (<?*nïXr-) 'young' and Hebrew n_&_r 'youngster, youth'
- Or Pre-Finnic ins^- 'human' and Hebrew ?_n_s^ 'man, woman' (the
hats are here for 'sh' as in shoe).
Jouppe.
===========

It makes little sense to compare Finnish alone
with anything else
if we don't have another Uralic word
to figure out what the structure of the word
could have been,
Maybe,
a good start is to compare Finnish nuori
with a couple of Uralic words *n_r
meaning "offshoot, new-grown twig".
In a metaphoric sense.
But I suppose you have something in store.

What is the data supporting *nïXr ?
(Which cannot be the etymon of nuori....)

I will not comment on a pre-Finnish insh.
I made it clear I consider
most of these "reconstructions"
are junk.
If you have data supporting insh,
We can look at it.
Samoyedic *(y)en "man"
support the idea that a root like *?_n
makes sense.
