Indeed, there are. Proto-Uralic had front-back harmony. Proto-Altaic
didn't have vowel harmony, but it did arise independently in some
branches. IIRC, Turkish has rounding harmony.

Moksha Mordvin does not even have vocalic harmony !!

And the way harmony functions in each branch is different.

It's clearly an innovation that happened after PU split.

Because of this dogma of inherited harmony,
sometimes Uralicists can't reconstruct the vowels
because the necessary proto-forms
obviously conflict with the dogma.
