I've heard MANY French people pronounce "I ask" as /ay
haesk/

==========
Parisian French uses non phonemic -h-
in a couple of onomatopeia.
The problem is they put -h-
at the start of any English word
be it ask (no h) or h-at (with h)
They can say h-ask and (h)-at

The example I gave was kaska- which is related to
English ash

UEW p 195
Uralic words for ash have k as initial
even though kaska fits bad in the rest of the words.
