Currently it means in French 'to kiss' too....
So you can WELL SEE here a semantic evolution
'to clasp in the arms' > TO KISS
in more general terms
'to clasp in...' > TO KISS
II. Albanian puth is NOT FULLY EQUIVALENT WITH ENGLISH KISS or WITH
FRENCH BAISER => this is your wrong assumption here
Albanian puth (in its reflexive mode) ALREADY CONTAINS AS ITS
SECONDARY MEANING, THE MEANING: TO INTERCOURSE....SEE PUTHEM IN
ALBANIAN DICTIONARY
THERE IS NO SUCH MEANING for English KISS or FRENCH Baiser
SO THE MEANING IS THERE : I DON'T NEED TO INVENT IT.
Please take a look in the Albanian Dictionary at the verb 'puth-
em'
So you need to show me a verb that has in the SAME TIME the
MEANINGS 'to kiss and to intercourse' this is the verb that we are
talking about here....
Show me first such a verb in another language at let discuss
about the evolution of its meaning...
The English 'to kiss' doesn't have this semantic coverage: it
doesn't have AT ALL the Meaning : to intercourse.
