I much prefer the old comparison of <keraunós> with Skt. s'áru- 'arrow',
Gmc. *xeru- 'sword' < *k^érh2-u-, from *k^erh2- 'smash, hurt' and a
derivation via the heteroclitic verbal abstract *k^érh2wr./n- .
