According to my Brøndum-Nielsen: Dialekter og Dialektforskning, Old
Danish has three forms, nakin (Jutland and Fyn), nøkin Sjælland and
southern Scania, and nækin (the rest of Scania, Halland, Blekinge) cf
Swedish naken. It seems, wrt the second, that the kW -> GW must have
'spilled' a /u/, in order for the u-umlaut a -> ø to have happened, cf
OE nacod, OHG nackut. The preserved -u- in Hittite nekkumant is
'permitted', it is recognized that a possible PPIE ku -> kW hasn't
taken place in some instances in Hittite.
BTW, on the split between -n- and -t- in the ppp/adjective: the old
Danish system, and still preserved in Swedish is for the ppp of strong
verbs to be inflected common sg. -en, n.sg. -et, pl. -na. Mostly the
neuter is explained as a loss of of -n- before -t-, but I wonder. If
not, there is a connection between PIE neuter -d/-t and the preterite
suffix.
