It's the regular reflex (Slavic *o represents the merger of old *o and *a).

Also probably a loan from Middle Iranian.

You mean <bHa:gá-> 'part, portion', don't you? It's the same pattern as
in <bHára-> vs. <bHa:rá-> 'burden, load' from *bHer- (no laryngeal here!).
