If you want a short answer, they don't. Skt. dHarma(n)- is derived from
dHarati 'hold, support', which contains PIE *dHer-. The Gk. stem
tHemist- (with a short *e, which may come from *&1, but not *eh1!) and
its relation to *dHeh1- have been discussed here before, see in particular:

The legal connotations of *dHeh1- are well visible in Germanic (cf.
English doom, deem).
