etymology of Ginnungagap?

Greetings all,

I am simply trying to track down the etymology of the name. AHDIER
states that Chasm, Gap, and Yawn all derive from PIE *Ghai- .... would
this be the proper root for Ginnungagap?

Also, I understand that *Gheu- is the root for Chaos.
Someone on Wikipedia has stated that the both Chaos and Ginnungagap are
derived from the root *Ghen- .
From a mythologic standpoint seeing these 2 primordial elements (Chaos
& Ginnungagap) as being linguistically related, makes sense, but this
*Ghen- is not a root I even see listed in AHDIER.

Am I correct in assuming the Wikipedia article is in error, and again
what would be the etymology of Ginnungagap?

Many thanks!
Aydan
