Various thoughts pop into my head, I cannot be of much assistance in
the linguistics aspect, but from a mythologic view one might wish to
explore:

Vedic Prithvi
Iranian Anahita
Germano-Norse Nerthus & Frigg (possibly a cognate of Prithivi?)
