Gothic 3pl sokjand, 3sg sokeiT shows the PIE alternation must have
been *-jo-/*-ei-, not *-jo-/*-i- as I thought. So here's the
revised version:
PIE *-ei- -> Proto-Slavic *-i-, then -é- infixed after it to make
the semithematic conjugation thematic -> *-ie- ->
*-i~- (circumflex) -> *-´-i- (ictus moved forward, Stang).
Result: -jó-/´-i- .


Torsten
