I think *eye is actually from *ex^e with x^>y
between V regularly. So the pp was *wog^h-x^-tos
creating a closed syl (so no o>a: in Skt); x^.>e reg.
in Gk.

So vahita: is the phon. reg. outcome (no ana. with
va:haya- since the meaning changed).
