There are two different names, if they are linked, it's not certain:
Helle:n "Greece, Greek", cf. Hellas (-ad-)
Hele:ne "Helen", usually compared to Sele:ne "moon" < *Selasna:. Since the IE myth of Celestial Twins is usually linked to a "Sun-Girl" (cf. Saule+Dievo Suneliai, Surya:+As^vina:, Helene+Dioskouroi; Helene+Agamemnon and Menelaos; Helene+Theseus and Peirithoos), the relation of Hele:ne to *sH2wel- seems plausible.

That's Gk. Heléne:. It has been tentatively connected with the
appellative <heláne: ~ heléne:> 'torch from a twisted bundle of reeds'
and furter with the root *wel-, but this etymology (and the connection
with the name) is anything but secure.
