Adx far as I can see, there's nothing particularly unexpected about the
behaviour of the "feather" word. We have neuter sg. *pótr. (Hitt.
pattar) and coll. *péto:r (Hitt. pittar) plus further more-or-less
predictable derivatives demonstrating that the word was a *-r/n- stem
like *wedr/n-.

What particular cognate set points to such a reconstruction?
