I vaguely remember there is some evidence of the lowering of short *i in
Albanian if the next syllable contains *a (I can't recall them off the
top of my head and need to refresh my memory). This is of course
different from the Romance lowering of Latin /i/ (also reflected in
Albanian, cf. letër etc.) and shouldn't be confused with it.
