Considering the regularity of the iterative-causative derivation,
it's more likely that

*légH-e/o- 'lie down'
begat *lógH-(o-) '(a) lying',
who begat *logH-éje/o- 'place down, lay' = 'cause to lie'

ie. the ablauted stem is a regular participle or verbal noun, also
occurring in the perfect sg.
