The River Ravensbourne. The name of this particular Bromley is first
documented in 9th-c. Old English as Bromleag.

The River Lee. I'll check the attestation of the Middlesex Bromley later
on (I haven't got the relevant books at home). I believe there are early
(11th/12th-c.) forms with Brembel- as the first element, but this has to
be verified.

For obvious reasons few towns are _not_ located near a major watercourse.
