That's really possible. Contamination is a common
problem, indeed. It may well be native and have
nothing to do with the similar sounding Slavic forms,
though, I still think, they are semantically
(relatively) close.

Considering loans, the prefix didn't have to be *pri,
but *pre, as in *pretivU or *per > OCS *pre^ "over,
through, very, exceedingly", present in *perkU(jI)
"across" and, probably, Czech <pr^i:c^ny:> (adj)
"across, diagonal", <vpr^i:c^it se> "get jammed,
become an obstacle".

I think the semantic developement OBSTACLE > PROBLEM >
CASE and later JUD. CASE > INQUIRY

Any way, problems are to be solved. Solution -
inquiry...that seems pretty close to me. But maybe
it's a bit far-fetched...
