And how about the ruminant fauna? Does it provide some clue for PIE homeland? We have a lot of ruminants around Eurasia: goats, sheep, saigas, roe-deers, deers, elks, reindeers, gazelles, chamois, sivatherium (extinct).

I opted for 'reindeer' because:

 

1) we know that have been domesticated (or, at least, tamed) for a good while;

 

2) and they are milked.

 

Roe-deer get a little cranky when you try that with them.
