I used to have NDR (Germany III) on cable. Once a month they had
plattdeutsch evening shows. I got the impression that many of the
invited guests, rather than speaking a language they used in everyday
life, were doing an on-the-fly backward Grimm shift of sentences they
had thought in High German.
