It was far from my intention to argue "ab auctoritate". I merely wanted
to point out to you that the Chinese "dog" word and its hypothetical
connections have already been discussed here. As somebody who has
actually studied Old Chinese, is up to date with the latest news in the
field, and knows more than either of us about Sino-Tibetan historical
linguistics, Guillaume certainly deserves to be taken seriously, so your
irony is misplaced.
