I just want to remind you that it was originally an acrostatic
consonantal stem (*nokWt-s, gen. *nekWt-s), not an i-stem (*nokWti-s,
gen. *nokWtei-s). It follows that it can't contain an old *-to-, since
the thematic vowel was _never_ completely deleted by PIE morphological
processes. The *-t- must be of other origin, whatever it is.
